The National Mall, Washington, D.C.

Photo from the Washington MonumentOn Saturday, January 27, 2007, approximately 250,000 people attended a peace rally in Washington, D.C. An attempt was made to spell out “IMPEACH!” in 100-foot letters on the grounds of the Washington Monument. If 1,000 people had shown up, their prone bodies would have almost filled the entire green section at the bottom of this image. However, organizers were able to draw only 200 people from the huge crowd gathering near to the Capitol, half a mile in the distance. Via cell phone from the top of the Washington Monument, photographer David Kidd directed the crowd on how to shrink down into the smaller image seen here.

A great setting, a missed opportunity.

Planning is everything.
