GETTING THERE
Beach Impeach 4 is NOT in San Francisco -- it is in BERKELEY!
PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 11 A.M.
In
the past, people have straggled in at the last minute, and this really
does not work well for the organizers. It really works well if you’ve
chosen your spot by 11:30 a.m., half an hour before the helicopters
arrive. The helicopters have been very prompt, but during Beach Impeach
#3 I asked them by telephone to please delay their departure from the
airport for ten minutes because people were still straggling in. Also,
at ALL THREE events people have come up to me AFTERWARD and said, “Oh, I just
got here. Has it already happened?” Please get there on time -- it
simply works. Please arrive to the site by 11 a.m.

We’ve
been a pretty good group about not all arriving one-car-per-person.
We’ve been a carpooling, bike-riding, public-transportatioin-taking
bunch. And it will work well for us if we do the same thing again at
Beach Impeach #4.
LOCATION - Cesar E Chavez Park adjacent to the Berkeley Marina, Berkeley, CA
CARPOOL
We
do not have a sophisticated carpool system set up. In the past I’ve
simply kept a list of people who have offered (frequent) or requested
(rare) rides, and when I see a likely match I’ve tried to hook them up.
I think that during all three events combined I might have helped
arrange a total of three rides. So, drop me a note if you’d like, and
I’ll keep trying.
BUS
The
Alameda County Transit bus #9 (www.actransit.org/) serves the Berkeley
Marina area, and from the map it looks like about a half mile walk from
the bus stop to the site.
BART
The
North Berkeley BART station is approx 2.3 miles from the site, and the
Downtown Berkeley BART station is approx 2.8 miles away. Both are on
very flat terrain -- perfect for a bicycle.
AMTRAK
The
Berkeley Amtrak Station is 1.6 miles from the site. If you live near
train service, throw your bike on the train and come on over.
BICYCLING
You can put your bike on buses, trains, BART. Lots of trees, benches, etc, near the site, where one can lock a bike.
PARKING FOR CARS
If
you are driving (enter 200 Marina Blvd, Berkeley, CA 94710 into your
map service), this means you will want to be arriving in the vicinity
of Cesar Chavez Park by 10:30 or so -- in time to find parking and walk
to the site. The Berkeley police and fire departments ask that we
please fill up the (free) public lots first, and those can be a 10-15
minute walk from the site. There will be volunteers directing people
to parking.
