VOLUNTEERS
Note from the webmaster:
Brad
is taking care of some urgent family matters currently. He may update
this page before the event on April 26, 2008. Fortunately, many
or us already "know the procedure".
If you've been a letter captain or helped with setup before, your
expertise is needed and appreciated. Please drop Brad an email and let
him know that you plan to help and what you would like to do. The
following message is from Brad's planning for Beach Impeach III, but
should also apply to Beach Impeach V (I'll update it as things change,
so please check back as the event nears):
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beach Impeach V is going to take a lot of volunteers.
Mostly I’m going to need a lot of help on the day
itself. I could scratch IMPEACH! into sand in my sleep in any size letters you
want, but I’ve never “chalked” it. And this one might be our biggest yet. Plus
we’re looking to “morph” the message, so…
If you can come early that day, please let me know. I’m
planning to be at Crissy Field and hard at work by 9 a.m. I’ll need people who
can hold stakes, run tape measures, and squirt chalk out of plastic containers
in a straight line.
We’re going to need people to hand out flyers to arriving
participants as well as to passersby who might want to join in.
I’ll need letter captains. (A few of you have been letter
captains at both #1 and #2, and have developed an attachment to “your” letter
-- don’t worry, it’s yours again if you want it -- just remind me please.)
We’ve done the first two events on the fly, but this one might be a little more
complicated with the larger “morphing” aspect, and I’ll probably want to do a
little ‘coaching’ in advance, once the exact plans are designed.
We’ll need a team of people to manage our 300-space parking
lot.
We will need people to police the permimeter to keep our
chalk outlines from getting smudged.
People to keep an eye out for counter-protesters and point
our hired Park Service personnel in the right direction if the protesters get
out of hand.
Send me an email with “volunteer” in the subject line, and
please include your phone #s, and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
Thanks!
